How do I summarize 3 nights in New Orleans? I think Siri was the best to describe it when she got the question in a little store in French Quarter; "Loud"...
We stayed at a hotel next to Canal Street which is a large street with cars, boxcars, lots of people, shops and restaurants. Here you also can find Bourbon street that leads right to the heart of French Quarter. French Quarter is a whole different
part of the city. Here the houses is much lower with the characteristic balconies with the iron railings. In French Quarter there are bars and nightclubs everywhere. This is a place to party.

New Orleans is a loud city with lots of people and a whole lot of partying, but you can also find peace and quiet in the parks and in the garden district where big Victorian houses rests in the shadow of old trees!
New Orleans has a lot of problems with drugs and crime, so here you have to be careful when walking around.

This particular weekend it was "the Southern decadens", comparable with a pride festival. A large amount of people partying and dancing in the streets of French Quarter!
Some groups didn’t like this and protested loudly, and of course they have the right to do that. Freedom of speech is extremely necessary and important! However it made me sad that it was said with so much hatred!

We stopped for coffe, crepes and water

Inside of a small hotel lobby in the French Quarter

Hateful signs again
We also made a tour with a genuine steamboat, the Naches. It was nice to see New Orleans from the "outside" as well. It was nice to rest our feet after all that walking in the heat as well..,

The last thing we did before going home to Montgomery was visiting the Lafayette Cemetery... which was closed😢. That meant that I couldn’t visit the vampire Letats iron mausoleum, but i managed to take som pictures from the outside. By the way,
Nature is amazing! Tree roots bursting through concrete and plants growing at the old stone wall!

And finally, beautiful roads through the Mississippi delta.

Så här ser staden ut på navigatorn.
