19 dagar i Sverige/19 days in good old Sweden

The main reason for me to start blogging was to invite my Swedish friends and family  virtually to Montgomery with us, but I also thought it could be a great way to store memories and anecdotes. Blogging is fun so I’ll continue doing it for a while. The reason nowadays might be a bit different though, it’s more directed towards all the friends we have all over the world. I hope that the Swedes will stay put too. Maybe the blog is a bit more fun to read than shorter stories on Facebook and Instagram. Everyone is welcome!
Please stay:)

Sweden greeted us with the best of weather and long nordic evenings! The sun rises at 3.27 am and sets at 10.13 pm, but it’s bright much longer than that. I love it!

The neighbor’s’ cat still remembers us, a great joy for Siri.

The first thing my husband did was mowing the lawn. The garden was a bit wild when we arrived.

This is actually the same little tree. The flowers are dark purple at first and then they change colors. It’s beautiful!

The girls and I bought some flowers almost immediately. It’s so important that the garden is nice because we spend a lot of time out there.

Some herbs to keep the mosquitoes away.
(null)
When Minna and I were throwing away last seasons very dead flowers, we found ourselves a Minecraft block. We tried to keep it intact, but sadly it collapsed. Could have been a fun feature in the garden :)
(null)
It’s so perfect:)
(null)
When we were still in Montgomery we bought a car. A Jeep Cherokee. Yes, an American car and It’s really nice! We like it a lot! Brum brum m... (Emelie, you know the rest)
(null)
We also had our bmw Z3 delivered from Gotland. My father in law has been taking good care of it while we’re away. We call it "the shark".

(null)
WHY do we have so much stuff!!!
(null)

(null)
But after unpacking about 150 boxes of clothes, kitchen utilities, books, rubbish, 1000 stones in different sizes that the girls collected over the years, we finally had our house back.
(null)
Now I just have to buy new curtains. I didn’t want to put the old ones back up.

We also did some paint job in the house. Sad old walls that needed some upgrading and the fireplace looks very nice and different!

After a job well done we celebrated with some delicious bubbles in the beautiful evening sun.

Skål, my darling!
(null)
This is a great picture of my wonderful daughter!
Niclas had this great idea of how to make the garden even more enjoyable. This is very popular in all the house and renovation shows we (I...) have been watching in USA. It will absolutely extend the outdoor season.

Minna has already plans of inviting her friends over.

We also bought some lamps to make it even more welcoming. Please come and join us for a glass of wine 🍷

I’ve got an app that allows me to scan old photos (paper copies) and saving them into my phone. It’s great! I have so many old photos laying around!

And then we were able to see our friends again, yey! We played some "kubb" and had a great night together! I have missed hanging out with these amazing and fun people!

Robert and Stefan

(null)
Love this picture. It’s hard to believe that their choice of clothes were a coincidence:) maybe they actually did call each other in the morning suggesting what to wear:)
Robert is the father to Kalle, the youngest and shortest in the picture. Stefan is the father to Viktor, the tallest one in the picture:) four nice looking guys!

And then we had a little talk with Adelaide and Ingrid. That went well:) they’re so cute!
(null)

(null)
Well, look at that! They have pizza in Sweden too, but I must admit that domino’s beats the Swedish one.

The best way to meet my father and Måna must be on the golf course. Perfect sport for social distancing! What a great and warm day! So nice to see them again. They were suppose to visit us in Montgomery, but then the borders closed!

Where’s the other half?
(null)
Oh, there it is!
This probably happend about 10 000 years ago after the last ice age. We have a lot of these boulders all over Sweden. (null)
A typical Swedish out house.
(null)
We often use these flowers in our midsummer wreaths. Beverly, please help me! What are they called in English? Midsommarblomster=cranesbill (?)=Geranium sylvaticum

Måna had baked these just for us. They are so tasty!
(null)
What a day! Not one cloud in the sky!

I love these flowers, my father hates them because they’re spreading like weed and taking over other vegetation. But they’re so beautiful! Lupiner=lupine (?)=lupinus (null)
Minna walking by another boulder. There’s an old folklore that when the Christian’s started to build churches it upset the giants that lived in the area. Because the giants were apart of the old pagan religion, the sound of the church bells made them mad, so in their rage they chucked boulders at them.

We made a short trip south to Linköping to visit Niclas sister and her family and my mother in law. They visited us in Montgomery but we haven’t seen them since Christmas. Good food and company as always!

On the way back home.
Beautiful mist (älvdans) in the evening light.
(null)

(null)
No, it’s not mountains, it’s actually clouds.
(null)

(null)
What you think is mist t is actually fairies dancing.

And today we found a cat. Meet Sune. He is 8 years old. His owner died and he promptly needed a new family. He will be a part of ours next week.

On Friday (tomorrow) we celebrate Midsummer! Avoid crowds, stay at home instead. This year everything is different and we just have to accept it! We can still have fun and eat strawberries:) happy Midsummer!
