I  i Dalarna, där jag kommer ifrån växer väldigt höga granar, men de är ingenting jämfört med träden i  Smoky mountain. I parken låter de träden falla som de vill, stigen  flyttar de på runt nedfallna träd. För länge sedan gjorde man stigarna lättillgängliga med trappor av sten eller timmer. 

In Dalarna, the place in Sweden where I grew up, very tall pines grow, but they are nothing compared to the trees in Smoky mountain. In the park they let the trees fall as they please, sometimes they have to move the path around fallen trees and logs. Long ago, the paths were made easily accessible by stairs of stone or timber.

Skogen är en riktig trollskog! Mossan täcker stenar och träd, vattnet forsar fram i djupa dalar och när vi var där täckte löven marken. För utom troll varnar man även för svartbjörn som det finns riktigt gott om. På flera skyltar utefter stigarna påminner man om att vi är gäster i björnarnas rike, och som gäst måste man uppföra sig! Det är sällan björnens fel att den anfaller.

The forest is a real magical forest! The moss covers rocks and trees, the water flows into deep valleys and when we were there the leaves covered the ground. Besides trolls, you also are being warned of black bears which there are plenty. On several signs along the paths you are reminded that we are guests in the realm of bears, and as a guest you must behave! It is rarely the bear's fault that it sometimes attacks hikers. 

Att vara ute i en sådan här storslagen natur är otroligt rogivande, även om det sliter att vandra utefter bergssidan. Jag njöt verkligen av det rent estetiska med höstlöv, löv som frusit till is, vithövdade örnar, vattenfall och broar och berg som verkar täckta av moln och dimma! Många gånger tänkte jag på Tolkiens värld i Sagan om ringen samtidigt som jag nästan kunde höra "dovregubbens hall" av den norske kompositören Edward Grieg, och visst ser väl björnarna ut så som den svenske konstnären John Bauer tecknade dem?

Being out in such a magnificent nature is incredibly soothing, even if it is a struggle to hike along and up the mountain side. I really enjoyed the pure aesthetic of autumn leaves, leaves frozen to ice, white-headed eagles, waterfalls and bridges and mountains that seem to be covered by clouds and fog! Many times did I think of Tolkien's world in "The Lord of the ring" at the same time that I could almost hear "The hall of the mountain king" by the Norwegian composer Edward Grieg, and certainly the bears look like the Swedish artist John Bauer drew them?

Ni vet förväntan och samtidigt oron som följer på att resa bort med vänner för första gången? Du ser fram mot att umgås med dessa härliga människor, men samtidigt är du lite orolig över om vi alla kommer att fungera bra ihop. Tänk om det uppstår konflikter eller något annat? Ingenting hände, det var bara så enormt trevligt att jag vill göra det igen! Vi var 18 stycken som åkte, 5 fantastiska familjer! Jag är så tacksam att vi har hittat det här gänget! 

You know the expectation and at the same time the worry that comes with traveling away with friends for the first time? You look forward to spending time with these lovely people, but at the same time you are a little worried about whether we will all work well together. What if there are conflicts or something else? Nothing happened, it went perfectly well and I want to do it all again! We were 18 who went, 5 amazing families! I'm so grateful we found this gang!

Och vi har redan bestämt att vi ska träffas igen!

And we have already decided to meet again!
